It may look like a practical joke, but these suggestive columns are, in fact, natural rock formations in Cappadocia. Locals have proudly dubbed the area “Love Valley”. There are hundreds of these phallic-shaped rocks, created over millions of years by wind erosion. Some have even been hewn out to create homes. Love Valley is just one of the many treats in store in Cappadocia, a fascinating corner of it.

Ozkonak Underground City is located northeast of the town of Avanos and is definitely worth a visit if you want to explore underground cities in depth. The city was discovered in 1972 and it differs from other in that, there were holes in ceilings above the doors which enabled the citizens to pour hot oil on any unwelcome visitors.

Avanos, a pottery making and rug weaving town in Cappadocia, is located on the banks of the longest river of Turkey, the Red River.Kizilirmak, meaning the Red River in Turkish, is 1,355 km long and is the longest river of Turkey which rises and ends within the country. The river is born from Kizildag mountains in the northeast of Central Anatolia, passes from Cappadocia, reaching the Black Sea at Bafra.

Pottery Kebab

Pottery kebab  is a specialty of Cappadocia. Locals call it a kebab, but everything with meat here seems to be a kebab. We are not sure that, this counts as a kebab, but it doesn’t matter because it is delicious! It is basically a slow cooked meat and vegetable stew. You can have the best specialities of Cappadocia at Bizim Ev Restaurant.

The name of the valley means: the Pacha's vineyard. Pacha means a military rank (General) and bag means 'vineyard'. Also known as Monks' Valley as a chapel dedicated to St. Simeon and a hermit's shelter is built into a fairy chimney with multiple heads. Paşabağ Valley contains some of the most interesting fairy chimneys in Cappadocia with twin and triple rock caps.

The Devrent Valley, also known as Imagination Valley, has none of the cave churches, Byzantine murals or Roman citadel ruins that are famous throughout the rest of Cappadocia; but what it does have is an extraordinary landscape shaped by nature to make you laugh and wonder and explore.
